"The Department of General Sales Tax will be completing 10 years so we are celebrating its anniversary. We thought that it's a good idea, because other countries have done it, to try and get compliance from registered tax payers in the matter of issuing tax receipts. That has been a challenge for the Department, in that a lot of calls come in where consumers are saying that they go to the store and they don't want to give them their receipt. A receipt is very important if you are a consumer, you will find that something you will have to return some goods. Sometimes you reach home and you find that this item is not on your receipt, you'll have to go back to the store and your only proof is the receipt. So we have a lot of disgruntled customers out there and because of that we thought that a good initiative is to partner with consumers in trying to make them demand their tax receipts from the registered persons. The grand prize will be July 1st 2016, but prior to that we still have one more $5,000 to raffle because so far we've started raffling on December 15th our first $5,000 then February 15th another 5,000. On every tax day from December 15th right up to April 15th we have done a $5,000 raffle and May 15th but which falls on the 16th because May 15th is a Sunday. That will be our last $5,000 raffle, thereafter people can still bring in their receipts up to June 30th at 12 noon that's our cut off point. Then we'll know on July 1st who will be that lucky person to win the 2016 Toyota Rav4, whoever that person is, I wish them well and good luck because everybody is looking forward to that."

The winner of the vehicle will get an import duty waiver. The SUV has a retail value of 120 thousand dollars.
