A 19 year old girl was shot last night in the city. Around 8, Chiaoma (Chi-oma) Williams was talking to a man at the corner of Freetown and Barrack Road. She was getting more information about a house she wanted to rent in his yard. But that is when 2 men on a cycle drove passed them and opened fire. The men quickly sped off. Williams was hit in her buttocks and grazed on her hip and leg. Today we spoke to the sister of the man who was with Williams. She told us more about what happened last night. She also explained that neither her brother nor Williams were the targets.

"I mi gone da shop gone buy me and my baby and I the come from shop but as I the come from shop I meet my lee brother but I just mi the run a lee joke with ah and thing, he and the young lady; because the young lady mi come check pan wa house da back she mi said she mi come check pan it because she hear da how the back da for rent. So anyways I couldn't talk to she or anything so I mi ask my brother do it because I mi the cook and thing and which in he and the young lady da friend so. So anyways I walk in with my baby and thing and as I walk in with my baby and I walk inside to gone take out a food, all I hear like pop then I hear like after that more gunshot start to follow so at the same time too I mi kind of afraid yes and at the same time too I never really mi di worry because nobody never mi deh round and at the same time I mi think my lee brother mi gwen go walk the young lady up the street or something. Afterwards we see the young lady di come back in and when she come back in we ask she is she alright and she said yeah like she said she was okay and everything. But da like mussi 15 minutes to 20 minutes after I guess she mussi realize that a shot ih get but first like I said she mi the act perfectly normal so we just say that we would try get she home but by deh time the police mi done come. So I gone outside for a lee while as the police mi the take over the scene and thing, when I come inside back my lee brother stand up by she and I see like she the tremble she di sit down in our chair. When I look down by ih leg whe part ih mi di hold, I see like a lee bruise like a real bad scratch, not so bad. So I said oh I wonder if the bullet must graze she or something."
"My lee brother da no somebody whe give trouble, who know he know that he da somebody he the work for years. He vibrant, he loving, he funny, he like clown ihself and he no into gang violence or anything like that so I just want they make sure they know that da lee one deh he da no like that. I no wa get in and say da how da a perfect family this. Yes we know that we have two brother out there in the streets and everything but we don't know if my lee brother da mi the intended target because da only he and da young lady mi deh pan the street."

"I no so sure miss because maybe that could be the solution I think because then but my lee brother, my brother never deh round because my brother not even live ya, they come hail my ma and thing but they no live ya you know."

Williams was taken to the hospital and treated. Rocke's brother escaped unharmed.
