Did Bze Pharmacist Lose His Job For Homophobe Post On Facebook?
posted (June 13, 2016)
Now while US Ambassador Moreno didn't address the daily threat to LGBT members in Belize, several Belizeans boldly expressed how they felt about it.

Most were in solidarity with the victims, but quite a few came out strongly anti-gay in the usual social media banter. But one particular post that gained a lot of traction was this one:

Belizean Facebook user Raynard Humphreys said that the killing of 50 members of the gay community in Orlando was, in his opinion, justified.

In a subsequent post, he said, and we quote, "I will never say killing of people is right. However I believe in this instance, it was justified. I personally am utterly against homosexuality and I can see where someone a little less sane than I am, can find it in them to hurt so many people."

His post enraged several facebook users, gay and otherwise, but it was the homosexual community who came out hardest at Humphreys for what they call hate speech. Now normally this would just vaporize in the electronic ether, but Humphrey's claims he lost his job as a result of the post and its backlash.

Best information tells us that Humphreys worked as a pharmacist at the Buttonwood Bay Medical Center. Earlier today we visited the clinic in hopes of getting some answers about the Humphrey's current employment status but the persons in charge would not tell reveal any information to us.

The only thing we do have is a facebook post from them in which they disassociated themselves from Humphrey's post. The statement also says and we quote, "be assured that this matter is being given our highest consideration and will be handled under proper due diligence and by the Laws of Belize."

We couldn't get in touch with Humphreys because he deactivated his facebook post. But before he did, he made posted a heartfelt apology saying "I simply posted an opinion, one I admittedly worded wrongly and now regret ever posting…I do apologize for posting such status in the manner I did."
