The Moral Tightrope Between Terror, Hate Crimes And Sin
posted (June 14, 2016)
While we spoke to Bishop Glancy we also got a chance to ask him about the current LGBT discussion - centered around Sunday's massacre at a gay night club in Orlando, Florida.

Now the Catholic Church disavows homosexuality as sinful, but what is the Church's response to the Orlando mass-killing? We asked Bishop Glancy today.

Bishop Christopher Glancy, Auxiliary Bishop of Belize
"No, ours would be one of horror just as it is as it is for so many around the world. We certainly send out prayers to the families who lost loved ones in that senseless act of violence. We in no way condone violence against people of homosexual orientation in any way. We believe that we have to respect people and part of that is certainly respecting life. We pray for them, their families and that this kind of violence and terrorism would cease. It's not what we believe in at all."

Of course, the other side of the story is the Muslim community, now being widely labeled as radical in the Western world because the Orlando mass murderer, Omar Mateen was a Muslim. Later on in the news you'll hear how Belize's Muslim community feels about this latest tragedy and its consequences.
