Diane Departs…Soon
posted (June 14, 2016)
But, while we were in Western Belize, we got an opportunity to speak with Diane Haylock, the President of NICH who's leaving the job after 8 years for a diplomatic posting in Taiwan. Here's what she and State Minister Elodio Aragon had to say about her exit and how they will work to find her replacement:

Hon. Elodio Aragon, Min. of State, Youth and Sports
"Miss Diane will be moving on to Taiwan as the Ambassador. The Prime Minister has given her that opportunity to go out there and I believe she will be taking that up."

Daniel Ortiz
"We were under the impression that you would remain president emeritus or perpetuity, but we understand you are moving on."

Diane Haylock, President - NICH
"Nothing lasts forever. I have spent 8 good years at NICH. It has been an amazing experience for me. One that, lessons I've learnt from being here, lessons I could not have learn from being in a classroom or from reading books. I have grown to appreciate my country even more than I did before then - If that were even possible, because I love Belize."

Daniel Ortiz
"Are you willing to discuss the Taiwanese posting?"

Diane Haylock, President - NICH
"Except to say yes that the offer has been made. I am supposed to take over the position of the Belize's Ambassador of Taiwan. Things are still in the works right now putting all of that together. But it's possible that I should be going as early as sometime in August."

Reporter
"Who will be the new director?"

Hon. Elodio Aragon, Min. of State, Youth and Sports
"At this point in time there are no names that have been set up yet. Work is still ongoing, because at the end of the day we want a director that will do great justice to NICH, following the footsteps of Diane."

Reporter
"Could you give us an idea of the application process? Will you have input in choosing a new director? We have heard the name Shyne Barrow thrown out."

Hon. Elodio Aragon, Min. of State, Youth and Sports
"No, that's the first time I've heard about that. Definitely I will have an input on that and definitely we at the ministry want to put and find the right person for this job."
