Street Justice Is Swift And Ruthless For Man Killed At Funeral
posted (June 16, 2016)
Gun violence in the city reached to a new low this afternoon when a man was killed at a funeral! It happened on Vernon Street just after 3:00, when Elroy Perdomo Jr., better known as "Chin", was in a funeral procession.

He stepped out of the procession to stop at nearby shop. That gave his killers the right opportunity to ambush and shoot him 16 times. Daniel Ortiz reports:

Daniel Ortiz reporting
About an hour ago, we found the family of Elroy "Chin" Perdomo Jr., outside the emergency room of the KHMH.

They had only just gotten the news that he was dead, his body riddled by 16 gunshots.

He was gunned down here on Vernon Street, and according to witnesses the two gunmen ambushed him just after he had stopped at this shop to buy some snacks.

We're told that he had been attending the funeral services for

Pablo Roberto Sanchez Sr., and he was traveling along with the funeral procession as it headed toward the burial grounds. Police say that the shooters pulled up in a car, and one of them emptied a full clip on him.

After the spray of gunfire, the shooter sped off.

"The person who was identified as Elroy Perdomo stopped at a nearby Chinese store right here on Vernon Street to purchase some items. Shortly after that he rolled off towards the direction of Western Avenue when a vehicle approached him and fired several shots at him. Unfortunately he died as he arrived at the KHMH. We were made to understand that he was a part of the persons in the procession, he had just stopped to purchase some items at the store and he stayed behind."

Daniel Ortiz
"Also our information is that these men may have been acting as though they were participating in the funeral as well and under that disguise is how they caught Mr. Perdomo unawares."

ASP Alejandro Cowo - Investigator, CIB Eastern Division South
"I'm not sure about that as yet."

Elroy Perdomo was the main suspect in the investigation into the murder of Marlon Bonner, who was killed on last week Sunday on the Basketball Court located at the corner of Fabers Road and Central American Boulevard.

Bonner's killer committed the murder in broad daylight, right in front of many witnesses, and without a mask

This picture was taken by our court reporters when Perdomo was taken to court earlier this week - police sent him there today again to see if he owed the court, a last ditch move to detain him.

He didn't owe and was released at 11:00 am. Police say street justice was terrible and swift and he should have stayed home:

Daniel Ortiz
"We understand that police recently had him detained for a pending investigation for the Marlin Bonner murder, can you confirm?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo - Investigator, CIB Eastern Division South
"Yes he was a person of interest in that case."

Reporter
"Do you believe it has anything to do with that?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo - Investigator, CIB Eastern Division South
"Well at this moment I cannot tell you. We are just in the initial state of our investigation but as soon as we get an update we will surely update you as to the outcome of the investigation."

Daniel Ortiz
"Have you all encountered Mr Perdomo before being killed today sir? Has the police ever had any kind of reasons to arrest or detain him before this particular Marlon Bonner investigation?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo - Investigator, CIB Eastern Division South
"I think yes, we have several incidents where we have dealt with him and I think he was before the court for some firearm offence lately."
