Cops Say Victim Should Have Stayed Home
posted (June 16, 2016)
So, while the investigators on the scene weren't ready to call Perdomo's murder street justice, Eastern Division South Commander Chester Williams wasn't so shy.

He's been on Facebook for the past two days asking eyewitnesses to come forward with information about the main suspect in Marlon Bonner's murder, Elroy Perdomo.

And now, Perdomo is dead - hours after police released him. Williams said that Perdomo should have stayed home to avoid street justice:

ACP Chester Williams - OC, Eastern Division South
"I must say it's a sad state of affair to see what we have come to and yes Mr. Perdomo was in custody in respect to the murder of Mr. Bonner which took place on Sunday. As I have said on my Facebook page, there were several persons out there who said that they saw him do the shooting. According to those persons who were out there, he had nothing on his face so everyone was sure that it was him. While many of the witnesses spoke to us and gave us full detail as to what took place, none of them were willing to give us a statement, because of that we had to release him at 11 this morning because his 48 hours period was up and he was released from custody."

Jules Vasquez
"So 5-6 hours later street justice was delivered on to him?"

ACP Chester Williams - OC, Eastern Division South
"Well I guess the street justice was swift and these are the things that we always try not to hope for. I wish we could have gotten a statement against him and send him to prison, he'd still be alive today. I think that Mr. Perdomo should have known that this was inevitable and it's unfortunate that he had to go out in public, he should have stayed at home. He just came, got released from the police station having been detained for a murder, where information is that many people saw him committing the crime, the least he could have done was to stay home and wait until this matter cools off instead of going out there on the street."

Jules Vasquez
"So you've had a murder, and a retaliation within 96 hours. Are you concerned now particularly with the brazen and cruel nature of this murder, 16 shots, that there might be a subsequent retaliation and what are you all able to do to contain that?"

ACP Chester Williams - OC, Eastern Division South
"Well of course yes we have to be on our guards and we will be doing what we will normally do to prevent any retaliation. Like I said we will do what we can do to try and prevent any further retaliations, but this is the reality of life and there's a saying 'you live by the gun, you die by the gun'. It's unfortunate, and I wish it didn't occur that way but it is what it is."

Police are looking for the car that was involved in the murder - and are asking anyone in the public who saw what happened to please come forward with information.

Perdomo was associated with the SSG Gang, but was in PIV territory, which should have been safe, since those gangs are considered to be allies.

We met Perdomo's parents at the KHMH but they couldn't comment because they were too grief stricken.
