posted (June 21, 2016)
Last night, we told you about how Ladyville Police decided to charge one of their own, Detective Constable Urbie Alamilla, for firing a gun in public for a second time. Well tonight, he's at the Belize Central Prison after he was taken to the magistrate's Court.

As we told, on Saturday, June 18, officers responded to a report of shots being fired at the Green Jade Restaurant, which is right down the street from the Ladyville Police Station. There they found 1 live round and 1 expended shell from a 9mm pistol on the floor. They were informed that Alamilla was under the influence of alcohol, he fired his pistol inside the restaurant. According to reports, Alamilla's family member, Elvis Borland, and another restaurant patron, 24 year-old Ashley Haylock, had some sort of disagreement. Sometime during that quarrel, Alamilla got involved and fire the shot.

The officers detained Alamilla, and when they asked him for the gun, he took them to an open lot on Woodpecker Street. They lifted up a cement block and found a 9 mm pistol with 8 live rounds of ammunition in its magazine.

He was arraigned today before Magistrate Carlon Mendoza on a single charge of discharging a firearm in public. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to Prison until August 9. As we told you, Alamilla is facing disciplinary charges for the very same type of incident which happened 8 days earlier.
