Cops Removed Youths From Crime Scene
posted (July 6, 2016)

Earlier we told you about shooting death of Devin Parham –which occurred just 1 hour and a half after the murder of Tevin Palmer. Now one thing that played out as police were cleaning up the scene on Cemetery Road was the arrest of two young men who had arrived to observe the crime scene. Today we asked the South Side Commander about that uncharacteristic detention. According to ACP Williams, this is also a part of their south side intervention strategy.

Emanuel Pech
"Sir just before police finished clearing out the scene, the one in Southside a couple of young men were taken into custody by police. Might this be another form of intervention method to secure these youth that are associated with the victim to prevent anything from escalating?"

ACP Chester Williams - O. C. Eastern Rural North
"Yes and I have said that we have two types of interventions, we have voluntary interventions and we have interventions where we actually pick up the young men and we intervene. Yes we will have an intervention which will not be voluntary, I have directed that they be picked up and they be brought here. I do not believe in detaining people for 48 hours for nothing so as soon as they are all picked up either this evening or tomorrow morning we'll have intervention and they will be released from custody. And again it is for their own safety and for us to be able to see how we could assist them in overcoming the hurt they are currently experiencing having lost someone who may be very close to them."
