Crime Scene Home Torched
posted (July 7, 2016)
So as we told you the house was burnt down and police are convinced it was arson. It happened some 20 minutes after midnight- about 9 hours after the fatal shooting of Tevin Palmer in the same address. For their own safety family had fled the building immediately after the shooting- so no one was injured in the fire. But just why would anyone want to burn down the house of a recent crime scene? Well that is what police are still trying to figure out.

Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood, PR - Eastern Division North
"We spoke to our neighbor who said that he heard the dogs barking and a little while after he heard a loud bang and saw smoke coming from that house. Initial investigation so far has shown that it is in deed considered arson, because the fire was started from an area around the refrigerator where fire personnel have confirmed that they found some clothing that seems to have been dozed in some kind of accelerant and they believe that is where it all started."

"Now is it believed that this arson is in direct relation to the murder that had happened hours before?"

Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood, PR - Eastern Division North
"Well it would want to seem that way with all indications, because this is only like 9 hours after that murder took place at that very location. I can say that there was no signs of forced entry. So, it is believed that it was set by someone either who knew to get into the house or had access to that house. At this time we don't have a clear suspect, but we believe that it had to be somebody that had access and frequented that house."

The owner of the house has been detained by police.
