Man Shot In City Over Petty Feud, Possibly With Cop’s Gun
posted (July 15, 2016)
A man was shot to his lower abdomen last night behind the Complex building in the St. Martin's area. According to 29 year old Nigel Castillo, a little before 9 yesterday evening, he and another person were at a nearby Chinese store when he suddenly found himself in the middle of an argument between a group of young people. Hoping to avoid any problems he returned home. But that is when one of the young persons, the step father of a police constable, allegedly discharged a police firearm at him for no apparent reason. Castillo was released from the hospital earlier today and he recounted the story to us.

Nigel Castillo - Shooting Victim
"Last night what happened was, me and my partner came from the shop and when they were already drinking, 2 guys just came and tried to get in our conversation and we just told them that we didn't want to hear anything. He just tripped then they came with their gun because he and I are neighbors. So, the same time when I heard them say that they will go for their guns, I walked home. They ran from across the other yards straight into my yard. The man had a gun and he pointing it at the crowed because an entire crowd was out there, at least about 12 of us were out there. The man pointed his gun and shot me."

"He didn't say anything?"

Nigel Castillo - Shooting Victim
"No sir."

Police have since detained two individuals- including a police constable. Two firearms were also recovered from the scene- and we are told that at least one of the weapons belong to the mother of the police constable, A woman who is also employed at the police department. Investigators are still trying to figure out a motive, but have completely ruled out the gang element. According to south side police, it seems the situation arose from a dispute that happened on the basketball court.

Fortunately the single bullet that caught him did not damage any of his organs, but it remains lodged at the back of his abdomen. And In the meantime Castillo must use a walking stick leaving him unable to work and fend for his two children.

Nigel Castillo - Shooting Victim
"I want to press charges on them and it's really a police so I want to make sure the police department try to deal with this because the doctor told me I probably can't work. I at least want them to try and compensate me because this is how I am right now laying down, can't do anything or myself. Hopefully I can get back up and walk, but other than that we don't want any problem with them or no retaliation, I just want to get justice."

Emanuel Pech
"For right now you're incapacitated, you are compelled to use a walking stick to help you. How are you going to work? You have to fend for your family."

Nigel Castillo - Shooting Victim
"Like what I said I just have to stay home, pray to the good lord and juts hope and wish things could come my way. But definitely I want to deal with this police department because they have a lot of young guys who are just corrupted people wanting to hang with bad guys and this should not be working like that. Otherwise ill juts use my walking stick and just pray to get back."

The last update we got from police was that they were preparing charges for the persons detained.
