31 year-old Jose Rivas, better known as “Rojo†is at the Belize Central Prison after he was taken to court for sexual assault on a 2 year-old boy. Rivas is being accused of fondling the toddler.
According to police the heinous act happened on Monday when Rivas allegedly touched the child in a sexual way and used a finger to penetrate his buttocks. Police investigate the report and they charged Rivas with sexual assault. He was arraigned today before Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith, who remanded him into custody until October 20.
Police must provide him with disclosure on that date, and on November 29, the court will hold his preliminary inquiry.
