PM Says He'd Consider Meeting With Supt. Flowers
posted (July 29, 2016)
And now back to our original question, now that Flowers is out on bail - would the PM be willing to listen to him? The PM today agreed that he has a long relationship with Flowers going back to his days in the Esquivel Administration - and under very limited circumstances, he would consider speaking to him about supposed evidence of corruption and wrongdoing that Flowers claims to have:...

"One of the things that he said was that he had documented proof via emails and receipts and several other documents that there were cabinet officials as well as other government officials who received a lump sum of money that would parallel would constitute money laundering and he has that documented evidence."

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister
"Has he shown you the documentary evidence?"

Reporter
"No he hasn't, because after that he was remanded to prison."

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister
"Well he is out now, isn't he?"

Reporter
"Yes he was granted bail today."

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister
"So he will no doubt show you?"

Reporter
"Mr. Mason made a request basically to see you and present evidence that he said he has, but Mark Flowers is now out and he is your friend, he is an acquaintance of yours. Is that something you will entertain?"

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister
"If what he says he wants to tell me has nothing to do with his case, then I would certainly entertain a request to meet with him. Again, I wish to be careful. I do not want to smear anyone, but the fact is that Mark has been charged; it is clear that he has an axe to grind. Not saying that as a consequence of this axe he would manufacture things against public officials. That is very much an open question. In those circumstances, I really have to think very carefully as to whether it will do more harm than good for me to meet with Mark even though he would be insisting that the purpose of the meeting would have nothing to do with his own charges. It is something I would have to reflect on."
