San Pedro Shelter Situation

And while the city shelters are filled to the gills, it doesn’t sound quite the same in San Pedro.  That’s the first major population centre which will be feeling storm force winds at around .  We spoke to the town Coordinator Primrose Augustine an hour ago and she said they were calm and prepared:…

"What is the situation right now in San Pedro?"

Primrose Augustine - NEMO Coordinator, San Pedro
"The situation right now Jules everything is calm. Every is waiting on this storm to make landfall."

Jules Vasquez
"Okay now they are saying NEMO is saying that it will make landfall; San Pedro will start experiencing 40 mph wind at 9 pm to 11 pm and midnight the whole country will start to experience hurricane force winds. What are San Pedroanos going to the shelters?"

Primrose Augustine - NEMO Coordinator, San Pedro
"Yes right now we have 3 shelters open. We have the San Pedro High School with 175 people in place; San Pedro RC Primary School with 46; New Horizon with 16."

"Okay now are there concerns that perhaps those in vulnerable areas have not responded and are staying in when in fact the storm will have a significant effect on San Pedro?"

"Well Jules as you know people like to wait for last moment in moving however we have issued as open. So whenever you are ready the shelters will be there for them."

"Do you all remain calm at this time?"

"Well we have to Jules everybody is calm we have been asking people not to panic we do not want to instil fear in anybody. Just for everybody to remain calm and just brace for when it happens."
