BEL: 99% Of Belize District Restored
posted (August 8, 2016)
BEL's assessment is that - as of this evening - power has been restored to 99% of the country.

A late evening release says that the stretch from Sandhill to Crooked Tree, as well as a portion of those along the Old Northern Highway and a portion of Belize River Valley were all restored today.

Now there are still some individual properties within restored areas who do not have power. BEL says that is due to transformers, spurs and poles requiring replacement. Those works are underway but may still be a day more.

The only remaining communities in Belize District without power are those along the Old Northern Highway from Altun Ha to Maskall and five villages in the Belize River Valley. They are now entering a punishing 120 hours and counting without electricity.
