Streets Not Happy With Supreme Court

But just going by the kind of talk you hear on bus or the streets, the majority of society is not so respectful of the court. So, while the LGBT Community is rejoicing, many others are fuming. We know that the churches are solidly against it, but what about the broader public? We took to the streets to find out.

Interviewee #1
"I think that the victory that their acclaiming is a vicious and undermining attack on not only African families or people of African descent but on all families. Family stability and family wellbeing determine the state of a nation, come on, sickness mentality? How are you going to promote good health in your nation?"

Interviewee #2
"As a Christian, the bible makes it very clear that the gospel must be preached in all the world to all people including the UNIBAM or whosoever choose that lifestyle. The gospel has powers through Jesus Christ to restore everyone. That is not a life that is pleasing before god and his word. The reason why Jesus came into the world is to free people from this bondage of sin."

Interviewee #3
"Every country I've been to, when they hear Belize, one of the first things they told me was 'the country with the sodomy law', and I was extremely embarrassed. So while I think for a lot of people here it may be negative reactions, internationally it's a great thing and it's a precedent for the Caribbean so I'm all for it."

"I like it and God hasn't made it for that, so plain and straight, men aren't made for men and women aren't made for women."

"It is totally wrong, I don't condone that, my name is Douglas Orosco and I don't condone that."

Interviewee #6
"For the UNIBAM, the decision that the government gave. I can simply say that I'm not with it because I think it's not right under god's eyesight, but on the other hand, if the government already gave the 'okay' to it, then what we the people can say about it?"

Reporter
"Don't you think it's that they have a right to express their sexuality, to be free in who they are?"

Interviewee #6
"Nothing wrong for you to express your sexuality, but then sometimes when you do things like that it leads up to more bad than good."

"Belize is gone for real now."

Interviewee #8
"I think what they did was that they shouldn't have passed the law for them to be given the opportunity to be out in public with one another, if you want to do anything, closed doors, no one has to see what they're doing."

IN terms of the case, after the Chief Justice hands down the written decision, The Government has 21 days to file an appeal if it chooses to do so.
