And while politicians are seeking to distance themselves from Mason - tonight his wife Melissa Ferguson is closer than she was a week ago. That's because Ferguson was remanded to prison for conspiracy to kidnapping earlier this week. Belmopan police charged her 48 hours after she turned herself in accompanied by her attorney Dickie Bradley. Now, he has maintained throughout that she's completely innocent, and only had the misfortune of perhaps being on the property when the kidnapping allegedly occurred. But if she is indeed innocent why did she hide out for 18 days after the media put her picture on the news saying that police want her for questioning? That's what we asked Bradley on Wednesday. He said she was acting on the advice of other attorneys who he suggests had her in hiding:...

"You mentioned in court that she was concerned for her own wellbeing, that in the days after because of the sensational nature of this murder. In fact her picture has been on TV for probably 12 days before she turned herself in. What was she afraid of during this time?"

"My understanding is that her instructions from the other attorneys was that the suddenness of what had transpired on Friday, the information that came out, she would not have anybody that she could come and stay with me and so on. The lawyers advised her in the circumstances of what was happening. The lawyers advised her it is not safe for you to stay at your home, we are coming for you, we will take you somewhere safe until we can get a clear understanding of what is transpiring so that you can clear yourself."
Melissa Ferguson is expected to apply for Supreme Court bail at the first available opportunity.
