Last night we told you about the alleged case of Punta Gorda Police brutality. The report is that 4 officers rode up to a store in San Marcos and started beating up a man who was near the store. Mario Makin was inside with his friend and he came out to see what was happening. That is when police allegedly grabbed Makin and started to beat him. Makin ended up in the PG hospital and just this morning had to be transferred to the KHMH due to the seriousness of his injury. Today Makin’s father gave us more details about the alleged attack and about his son’s condition. We also spoke to Makin’s close friend who is pleading for justice.

"His father told me that he was drunk, that Mario was drunk at his friend's house. Tell us about how that might have factored in; did you know he was drunk? Do you think maybe he came out and maybe aggressed the officers or did something to aggravate or disrespect the officers?"

Gretel Mas - Friend
"You know drunken, I can't say he did or did not, I can't really say nothing about that but they are village people and I think that he did not do anything; he just came out and checked that's what he said and that's when they did that to him."

Courtney Weatherburne
"What are you all pleading right now? What do you expect to come out of this case?"

Gretel Mas - Friend
"Well we want justice that's what I want because I try to contact the Punta Gorda OC and he didn't want to do anything about it. So now I would want like Mr. Chester Williams because I know that man will serve justice for them so I would really want to see him and have a word with him and explained to him what happened."

Makin’s father says he is optimistic that his son will recover. The family plans on making a formal report to the Professional Standards Branch.
