GSU Vs. GTC, Meighan Brothers Shot
posted (August 29, 2016)
And while ACP Williams is doing gang mediation - on Sunday morning, right after the murder, it seems the GSU was doing gang aggravation. They were caught in a dangerous exchange of fire with gang combatants in the middle of a crowded community. This came after the gang trailed a group of persons associated with the Ghost Town neighborhood to their community and then proceeded to shoot two of them - and not just any two; they shot two of the Meighan brothers - who are considered leaders of the Ghost Town Crips. That set off all kinds of chaos in the community. Now, to make it clear, as you saw in our earlier story, the Meighan's are not suspects in the Mckenzie murder because they were friends and allies with the young man. But, it seems the GSU was either just waiting for a chance to pounce on ghost town, or doing an aggressive pre-emptive strike to block retaliation. Either way, all hell broke loose as gunshots rained down on Mayflower Street. Jules Vasquez went there yesterday for a damage assessment:..

Tyrone Meighan
"Well last night what transpired was a total mayhem and destruction form again the professional unit, the GSU again beating us and shooting us this time."

Jules Vasquez reporting
He says it started when they left the Soca Madness event at the ITVET where George McKenzie Jr had been murdered.

Tyrone Meighan
"They trail us. When they trailed us back to our block, when we reached out of the car, from way out of the ITVET compound they trailed us with no problem. We stopped at the lane and when I came out of my vehicle with 3 young ladies, they just attacked us just beating up people and having the girls push open their feet telling them to get down on the ground."

That's what this video captures, men on the ground, an outcry from the Mayflower residents, and the GSU prowling with guns on the ready. They had already shot two of the Meighan's and the crowd of onlookers was incensed."

Tyrone Meighan
"Now they're starting to shoot, their bursting street shots."

This is where they shot Meighan - and then took him on a long drive

Tyrone Meighan
"They took me up the road to 3 miles putting gun in my face. Any day when I get up out here I know it's a threat, so I'm ready for a gunman any day out here. So when they told me that they're going to kill me I'm already tired of hearing about killing. You have to get in the line GSU, there's a thousand other people in the line."

When we went through the alley on Sunday we saw multiple signs that shots had ripped through the neighborhood and residents told us as much

Voice of: Mayflower resident
"When the shots started bursting I wanted to know if it wasn't going to finish because it was going on like crazy. I just grabbed my baby and said 'God please just help me so that none of these bullets catch us', it was just crazy."

Voice of: Resident of Mayflower
"A bullet fly through my house and my baby was right in there."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"So how'd you handle that situation? What did you do?"

Voice of: Resident of Mayflower
"We didn't do anything except stay on the ground."

Resident
"We heard gunshots."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"Weren't you scared?"

Resident
"Yes we went to sleep on the ground because we don't want to get shot."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"Who were bursting the shots?"

Resident
"The police, GSU too."

Voice of: Resident of Mayflower
"We haven't done anything to them to make them shooting up."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"How much shots do you think they made?"

Voice of: Resident of Mayflower
"Over a hundred."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"Can't be over a hundred, that's a lot."

Voice of: Resident of Mayflower
"About 50+ shots because it was different guns being used."

Ellis Meighan, Claims GSU Shot Up His Yard
"Jules they came in my yard last night around 4 in the night and shot up in my yard. No one was here when they were bursting shots, no one was home at the time when they were doing it in my yard. They were talking about asking their sergeant if they already planted bullets in my yard. Marvin McCoy and all of them shot up my yard, as they stepped in the yard they shot up and my baby was at the back sleeping, from my dog they shot."

Tyrone Meighan
"I guess its 21 or 121 guns to go through the block last night because they're bursting shots and it's a good thing no one got hit in the cross fire. They can't just come and chance people like that, we're coming from a Soca madness with our mom. Watch what caught my mom's blouse from the professional GSU last night. This is what they tore and my little brother was shot and so was I with rubber bullets."

And while the Meighan's and Mayflower had a rough Sunday morning, they say they don't want revenge - and seemed quite content with some blows thrown at one of the more notorious GSU figures:

Tyrone Meighan
"When we get beaten it's because we're rebelling. We're tired of getting beat, we're getting up and being men. I punched them in their face and they don't know where to run they have to shoot me because like what I said, I'm not afraid of you. But like what I said Jules, I'm not threatening, I'm just saying I'm tired of you."
