There were 2 more city shootings last night. The first happened after 6:00 on Mckay Boulevard in the red-hot St. Martin's area. 37 year old Jason Longsworth was talking to his girlfriend at the steps of their home when 2 men on bicycles passed by and shot at Longsworth hitting him in the leg and back. Southside Commander Chester Williams gave us more details.

"Sometime around 6pm last night, police were called to the area of McKay Blvd. where on arrival Jason Longsworth was seen suffering from gunshot wounds to the leg and back. He was transported to the KHMH where he is currently admitted in a stable condition."

"That area was actually where the last murder took place, is this a retaliation for what happened to Mr. Nicasio Zuniga?"

"No it is no retaliation, we're trying to find out what happened, and the person who is a victim at this time is from Hattieville. We understand that he has a girlfriend who lives in that area but there is no evidence at this time to suggest that it has anything to do with the shooting death of Mr. Zungia."

"I know that you guys have always been in that area but obviously have boosted up patrols in that area and have done interventions in there following the murder of Mr. Nicasio. Can you talk to us in terms of detecting, was there any way that you guys could have detected that something was going to happen?"

"No, like I said, the person is not even from the area, he is from Hattieville and he is not a part of what we do, it's the first time I'm hearing about him. Yes we have stepped up our patrols but what we'll be doing today, I'll be reviewing the patrols in that area and see how I can put additional resources. It will be extremely difficult but it's the area that has been plaguing us at this time, we need to make some adjustments and that will be done today."
As you heard, this shooting does not appear to be in retaliation for Nicasio Zuniga's murder. And later on after 10:00, 35 year old Marvin Ottley was shot to the hand as he came out of his Lizarraga Avenue house. Ottley heard someone call for him and when he came outside that is when a man shot at him. Police are following leads on these shootings.
