Love Triangle Leads To Murder In OW
posted (October 3, 2016)
There was a broad daylight murder in Orange Walk Town yesterday afternoon. It happened after midday in the Louisiana area. 30 year-old Bladis Gonzalez was stabbed to death at of his home, which is located at the corner of Zericote Street and Palmar Road.

He was inside his house with his brother-in-law when his attacker came looking for him. They got into a confrontation which quickly escalated into an altercation. Gonzalez tried to escape, but the knife wielding man hunted him down and stabbed him to death. The man reportedly came to question Gonzalez about a relationship he'd had with the attacker's wife.

Our colleagues from CTV3 News spoke to Orange Walk Police Inspector Jose Mendez, and he shared a few of the details that the investigators have managed to unearth so far:

Inspector Jose Mendez
"The investigation was commenced and revealed that he had an altercation with a dark skin male person at the residence in Orange Walk which led to the stabbings that caused his death."

Reporter
"Sir what do the police understand to be the motive?"

Inspector Jose Mendez
"Our investigation lead us to something like a love triangle which led to the murder. It shows that the suspect we are seeking at this moment was looking for his common-law wife who was living with the deceased and we believe to have led to this incident. We are presently seeking for the male individual. All relevant information will be sent to the Corozal commander personnel as well as other districts that we believe the suspect that will go."

Reporter
"The suspect, is he known to police for previous incidents? Or is this just a onetime thing?"

Inspector Jose Mendez
"We had no encounter, as far as I'm concerned, with the suspect."

Police are looking for the murder weapon, and the man who they believe to be his attacker - who is reportedly on the run.
