Chamber Writes To Institute of Accountants
posted (October 11, 2016)
And the Chamber says is also threatening to strike if government doesn't make immediate breakthroughs on key governance issues, such as the appointment of the 13th senator and the activation of an integrity commission. Of course, as the Chamber well knows, there's been trouble finding an accountant to serve on the Commission because he or she would have to become a politically exposed person – with the requirement to disclose all their sources of income, among other things. The government hasn't been able to find one for years, and now the Chamber of Commerce has turned to the place you'd think anyone looking for an accountant would turn to in the first place; that's the Institute of Chartered accountants. A letter dated Thursday, October 6th asks the president of the institute in suggesting possible candidates to serve on the integrity commission. Those names will be forwarded to the Prime Minister – who – the letter notes can either choose to accept or reject them.
