Fines For Price Control Violators

Controlled prices, they are put in place to protect the most needy on basic food items. But, many unscrupulous storeowners still gouge consumers on these basic items such as rice and sugar.

The practice is widespread, and the Bureau of Standards ahs the job of cracking down on it. Today the bureau reported that three businesses that have been prosecuted and charged for violating price controls.

Super 1 Center in Bella Vista Village was charged $500 for selling controlled goods for a higher than regulated price. Placencia's Placencia Store and Dong Lee Store in Hopkins were charged $250 and $500 respectively for not marking the price of controlled goods, likely so that they could sell them for a higher price at the register.

Now, these are only three in a landscape of scores of violators, but the Bureau of Standards remains vigilant in order to ensure the ethical sale of controlled goods. Serious violations of the Supplies Controlled Price Regulations can result in six months on jail and a fine of $1000.
