Next year the Belize National Football team will be off to Panama to participate in the 2017 COPA Centroamericana tournament, or Nation's Cup. Belize has been selected as a part of Group A, and will face off against Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama. The top four teams in the tournament will move on to the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, while the fifth place team will enter the Caribbean Cup for a second chance at qualifying.
Belize's last performance in the COPA Centroamericana tournament was less than ideal, placing 7th out of 7 in 2014. Since then, the team has been restructured, and new members have been added to the roster. The tournament will take place next January.
