Today at the Lions Club Parking Lot the Kidney Association of Belize, held a health fair in concert with the Belize Association of Life Insurance and Financial Advisors. So, what's the connection between life insurance companies and health and wellness? Well, we stopped by this afternoon, and the President of BELIFA, Shawn Smith, told us if their customers are healthy, and then it drastically increases their chances of qualifying, should they want to buy a life insurance policy.

WOMEX Calls The Name of The Rose
She may be a Tobagonian, but Calypso Rose for anyone who was around in the 70's and 80's, she may as well be Belizean. Ask about songs like "Fire in Belize", "Fire in Me Wire" or "Leh We Punta" and you'll know that she has major credentials in the jewel.
And that connection continues to this day. Her latest album "Far From Home" which is a runaway success in Europe - was recorded and produced in Belize by Stonetree records.
And to top it off, On Sunday, the now 76 year Calypso Rose was presented with the WOMEX Artist of the Year Award. The album was produced by BENQUE VIEJO'S Ivan Duran, who also produced Watina, the album that won Andy Palacio the Artist of the Year Award in 2007.
Duran presented Rose with the award earlier this week. Here's what he had to say about her legendary musical talent.
Calypso Rose has been performing in Belize for decades, and was named an honorary citizen in 1982.
