City Man Executed In Rural Area
posted (October 31, 2016)
The crime figures continue to rise as 4 more persons were killed this weekend - bringing the total murder count at the end of October to an alarming 122 homicides.

We start off with an early morning execution. Around 8:00 this morning, police found 25 year old Jeon Peebles' body down a dirt path off the Boom/Hattieville road. The Belize City resident was found quite a distance from home, face down with several shots to his head. Reports are that police picked up Peeble around 7:00 last night but no one knows what happened after that. His older sister told us off camera that they are still trying to come to terms with his ruthless, mysterious murder.

Voice Of: Shantel Thompson, Older sister
"From his friends I heard that 2 police officers came and took him from either his house or on the street in front of his house."

"We understand that they took him for weed I believe?"

Voice Of: Shantel Thompson, Older sister
"I little bit of weed that he had, not much. The call from the police was they found a body and its most likely him, because of the tattoo of his daughter on the right chest and that was when they told us to come and identify his body."

"To be honest I always say my brother ain't no saint, but when I heard, it broke me down and I am so - no words can't explain the way I feel right now. It's hard to lose your only brother, someone that adored you, look up to you and to see him in the state that I saw him this morning, he was running for his life. He was. He didn't mentioned anything about any kind of issues. He was so happy. He was different Saturday actually. He was the sweetest person. His last memory will always be there."

Ndola Peebles, Mother
"I don't know how it feels when a person lose their family, but I felt it this morning and for a while now I am praying to God and asks him for strength, because I have 3 children. The only thing I pray that they would give their lives to Christ. So the coming of Christ, we could meet each other. We just have to be strong. Because right now he is sleeping. When the coming of Christ, God will do all the judging."

And police also need to fill in the blanks in this case as well. Assistant Commissioner of Police Edward Broaster told us they are trying to find out which police officers picked up Peebles last night and hopefully that will lead to more answers.

Courtney Weatherburne, 7News
"We got reports that police officers picked up Mr. Peebles last night. Could you confirm if that's the case?"

ACP Edward Broaster - OC, Eastern Division Rural
"We have received those reports that he was allegedly was picked up by police last night and we are investigating that matter as to who may have picked him up in Belize City."

Courtney Weatherburne, 7News
"To see that gap received, police officers is the last persons to see him and then what happened from them picking him up to him being found early this morning."

ACP Edward Broaster - OC, Eastern Division Rural
"Like I said, we are investigating those reports to see what transpired between the time of him being picked up and to the time that lead to his untimely death."

Courtney Weatherburne, 7News
"Do you know what time he was picked up and where?"

ACP Edward Broaster - OC, Eastern Division Rural
"I believe the reports we are getting is around 7pm last night. One thing we can say we ruled out robbery as he was found with a couple jewelry and some money in his pocket."

8 expended shells were found on the scene. Police have no motive for this murder at this time. Peebles leaves behind a 3 year old daughter. He was well known to police as an affiliate of the Backatown/PIV gang.
