67 Year Old Victim Of Hit And Run
posted (October 31, 2016)
67 year old Police Street resident Gerald Bahadur was knocked down and killed early on Sunday morning. The senior citizen was just walking down the street just after 1:00 am - when a small SUV ran him over and drove off. He died on the spot, and police say they are looking for a blue RAV:...

ACP Chester Williams, Commander, Southside
"Police were called to the area of Police Street where on arrival they saw a male person who appeared to have been lifeless. He was transported to the KHMH, where he was pronounce dead on arrival. The police investigation in that matter continues. We have viewed several cameras in that area. We are trying to locate a dark blue Toyota Rav4. The headlight is broken because debris from the headlight was found on the scene."

And while police are looking for that RAV, we went to Bahadur's home and spoke with his family and friends to find out what they know about the accident.

Sylvester Bahadur - Brother of the deceased
"Well they say that it's a hit and run. They say they have lots of cameras and they cannot give the vehicle's name because they can't make any mistakes, and they went to speed it up to see if they can find it, but my point is this, the way this thing happened, and they say that it is a hit on run, I figure different, because that story isn't giving me 1+1 equals 2. I'm not understanding. As the thing happened, according to my message, they just knocked down my brothers and when I went to the scene, I only live a couple feet away, my brother's blood is like liver, meaning that it looked like hours or days or whichever that he died, so I'm not getting the story."

Leandro Roches Jr. - Neighbor/Family friend
"Somebody probably did some kind of crime behind the neighborhood and was trying to get away. Trying to get away, they didn't know how to control the vehicle and they probably lost control of the vehicle and they hit my friend, or I could call him a father too. He was well loved, well liked and well appreciated by the neighborhood."

Voice of: Neighbor
"Well I was sleeping, what woke me up was a noise from some girls that were arguing down there, a few minutes to one. I was lying down, but I was up, right. So suddenly I just hear, like "BANG", and then that was like 8 minutes passed 1. So when I ran outside, I saw this little old man leaning right there against the wall, and everything that I saw the man just breathing hard and he stayed right there and then he started to bleed from his head, and a little while after that I saw the police come and take him."

At the time of his death, Bahadur was on parole for two counts of carnal knowledge for which he was serving 12 years in jail. He was let out on parole after serving six years.
