Saldivar Right Hand Man Wields Gun In Public, Police “No Charge”
posted (October 31, 2016)
If you've been watching the news long enough, you might remember Paul Ferguson, also known as "Chicken Dread". He's a fried chicken vendor by night, and a PUP politician's driver by day. Well on Sunday morning outside "Sit and Sip" Nightclub, those two worlds collided when he had a heated political argument about fried chicken! That might have been a funny story - but Ferguson alleges things took a very serious turn when well known John Saldivar right had man, Douglas Grant was leaving the club. Grant wanted chicken, but instead the bald-head dread gave him a steaming hot serving of political trash talk - which led to gunplay. Ferguson held a press conference today to press the point:

Paul "Chicken Dread" Ferguson, Alleged Victim of Aggravated Assault
"Around 2:30-3:00am in the morning, I saw Douglas Grant exit the Sit and Sip Night Club. He walk up and he asked me if anymore chicken is there and I told him chicken is done. So he say how the chicken is done? I say how your government is done."

"Thereafter what happens next?"

"Me and him continue to walk and the man just went into a tantrum and just pulled out his firearm and bust in the air and DJ Ritchie Galvez yelled "boy" and so he stopped. The man point the gun at me and then the Strike Team went and pull him on the side and talk to him and they let the man gone and when I walking back I started to curse out the police, I say come on man, how will you not arrest this man? This man pulled a firearm at me and you all are making this man leave just like that."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"Have you made a complaint to say that this person pulled a firearm?"

Paul "Chicken Dread" Ferguson, Alleged Victim of Aggravated Assault
"Of course I did."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"And has any action been taken?"

Paul "Chicken Dread" Ferguson, Alleged Victim of Aggravated Assault
"Well you and I know that nothing ain't going to happen."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
'I don't know."

Paul "Chicken Dread" Ferguson, Alleged Victim of Aggravated Assault
"You know, because he is a big UDP."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
'Did he had any reason to fear for his own safety? I know that from time to time you can be a quite provoking fellow."

Paul "Chicken Dread" Ferguson, Alleged Victim of Aggravated Assault
"You asked me if he had any reason to fear for his safety."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"Perhaps you threatened him."

Paul "Chicken Dread" Ferguson, Alleged Victim of Aggravated Assault
"In what kind of way I threatened him?"

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"You can be a very provoking fellow Paul."

Paul "Chicken Dread" Ferguson, Alleged Victim of Aggravated Assault
"No, hold up. Why are you saying that? Ask me if I fear for my life. You should ask me that question."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"The report I heard from a police officer was that you at 4:10am, you had to be detained for disorderly behavior, because you were drunk. That is their claim and that you curse out a police officer from the Strike Team, a sergeant."

Paul "Chicken Dread" Ferguson, Alleged Victim of Aggravated Assault
"So they told you that I was drunk and that I was disorderly and I never got arrested for disorderly conduct. So whoever you got your information, you got it wrong."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"But you were detained?"

Paul "Chicken Dread" Ferguson, Alleged Victim of Aggravated Assault
"I was escorted to the Queen Street police station and yes I was detained for a few hours."

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"Okay, right, until you cooled down and you work off..."

Paul "Chicken Dread" Ferguson, Alleged Victim of Aggravated Assault
"No, it wasn't like that. The police realized that they messed up. They realized that they didn't arrest this man. They realize that they saw this man pulled a gun and I was very upset. My life was in danger. I feared my life. Come on. If a man pulled a gun at you and the police hasn't arrest him, you wouldn't be upset?"

"So you are trying to ask me if I am going after the man. No. I will continue pursue the criminal action at the police station. If they don't arrest the man, I am going back again to make another statement. I will go further. If I have to go to the highest level in the police department, I am going to do that."

Today Grant sent out a statement saying that it is all a fabrication. Grant says Ferguson approached him "hurling insults and obscenities" which, he claims, turned into, quote, "hostile aggression" as Ferguson got into his face. Despite what we see on the video, Grant says he never pulled his firearm, and simply turned it over to police when they asked to see it. He says it showed no evidence of being recently fired. He says Ferguson is attempting to make political mileage, quote, "from a situation where he was the sole aggressor," end quote. Interestingly he adds, quote, "persons on the scene were able to confirm this to the police and are prepared to repeat the same in a court of law."
