"I can confirmed to you that Mr. Paul Ferguson did in fact make a complaint to the police early Sunday morning. The matter is being investigated and we are at point where we believe that we have enough evidence that we will be laying charges on Mr. Grant pretty soon."

"Are you able to say what those charges might be?"

"The first instance I can tell you is aggravated assault."

"We know Mr. Grant is a very close affiliate of the former minister of police and we've heard stories like this in the past where in Belmopan, not in this jurisdiction, things have been lead to slide. Were you contacted by anyone? Was any political pressure put on you to not act immediately?"

"Not at all and I will not be contacted Jules. I will effect my duty as I always do and that is what we are here to do. Like I said, the matter is being investigated. We feel that there is enough evidence at this time and charges will be laid on Mr. Grant very soon."

"Why wasn't he arrested in the first instance, seeing as though this happened in plain view of the mobile strike team?"

"I have to say based on the investigation, this incident did not occur in plain view of the officers. The officers came upon an argument, not that incident that was reported. So the officers used their won discretion and decided how the matter would have been dealt with by them,"

"Were they as far as you know in the area when Mr. Grant pulled his weapon?"

"No they were not. They were assigned to patrol the entire Fort Street area and they came across a confrontation and argument between two persons."

"Will any charges be contemplating against Mr. Ferguson? We saw him speaking in a very, it seemed insulting way or speaking down to police officers. He admitted that he curse at the police officers because they refused to arrest Mr. Grant."

"Well I cannot at this point in time that any charges will be laid upon him. I know that the police officers, one of them had brought him in to custody for the purpose of him being disrespectful and being disorderly out there. But again, according to the officer who had brought him in, he spoke to him and managed to calm him down."

Aggravated Assault with a firearm is an offence for which bail is not granted and accused persons are remanded. We'll wait and se how this one plays out. Douglas Grant issued a statement yesterday saying that Ferguson threatened him and that he did not fire his weapon.
