Day Of The Dead, Lives
posted (November 1, 2016)
Everyone remembers a lost loved one in their own way, through music, pictures and inside jokes. Well, there are others who celebrate the life their loved ones once had through cultural traditions like "Dia De Los Muertos" or as it is referred to in Belize, "Finados". It is celebrated every year on Nov 1st and Nov 2nd, today being dedicated to the souls of children and tomorrow is set aside for the souls of adults. The idea behind this observance is to honor the dead with food and prayers. Many believe that the spirits cross over to our world to feast on the offerings. Now this might sound like something from a ghost story but according to Consular of Legal Affairs at the Mexican Institute Hugo Juarez , it is one of the most important and revered cultural traditions in Mexico. We stopped by the Institute today to see what offerings they had laid out for the departed souls.

The official opening is tomorrow night at 5:30 at the Institute Of Mexico. There is also an exhibit in Belmopan where they will be honoring BELOVED Mexican performer Juan Gabriel.
