Chester Says Cops Could Continue With Prosecution
posted (November 2, 2016)

But attorney Chester Williams said that police still could try and push the matter for the very public display of what might be called “gondoleroâ€￾ behaviour:

ACP Chester Williams - OC, Eastern Division South
"The truth is the person who is the victim of as crime do have the right to decide whether or not they want to pursue that charge or charges before the court of law and if the victim in the matter decide that they do not want to pursue the police has one of two options. One the police can still proceed with charges and have the complainant go to court and withdraw the matter or the police can get a further statement from the complainant, attach it to the case file, send it to the DPP and let her decide whether or not they will still continue with charges against the individual."

A significant number of cases are dropped on a regular basis for the want of a complainant.
