Police Use Carrot and Stick: Mediation And Raids
posted (November 2, 2016)

But, in this case policing isn’t just about making arrests; it’s about making sure there’s no further retaliation. The rivalry between South Creek/North Creek and Antelope Streets has been simmering and today police intervened and acted decisively to quell the violence:

ACP Chester Williams - OC, Eastern Division South
"We were engaged in mediation today and the mediation had to do with the space of shooting we have been in the Antelope Street, South Creek, North Creek area and again yes we get with the different groups with a view to assist them to come to some amicable solution to the problem. Both sides made commitments that they will do their best to ensure that the shooting stop but not withstanding that I will say that our police presence in the area will continue. This morning we went in the area and we brought in elements from the SPU and elements from the MIT along with our strike team and we did operations in the area which was geared at targeting those persons who we believe are involved as well as to conduct searches for firearm and drugs in the area because we have come to understand that the reason behind the shooting is a war over a turf to sell drugs. So we want to see how we can assist in trying to eliminate that issue."
