Caring for someone isn't the same thing as "caring" for them. In other words, you might genuinely want to help a sick or disabled person but you simply don't know how to. Those skills come with training. The Belize Assembly for Persons with Diverse Abilities hosted a 4 day training for care givers on how to handle and cater to the elderly and special needs kids and how to respond to emergency cases. We stopped by the ITVET for the closing ceremony to find out what valuable techniques these caregivers learnt.
There were 3 persons trained to be care giving trainers and 20 who participated in the training sessions. This initiative was undertaken in partnership with Healing Hands in Canada.
