A New Drug Court

In July the OAS released a comprehensive study on drug abuse among youths in the Caribbean. In report, Belizeans were noted to have very high rates of marijuana and alcohol consumption at a young age. We spoke to Vellos about how these insightful these statistics have been, and how they relate to implementation of the new drug court...
Vellos told us that there are several method are being considered to help alleviate Belize's drug and alcohol consumption.


BIFF And The Drug Abuse Conversation

If you think the Belize International Film Festival is just about entertainment, the organizers are proving tonight that Cinema can spur social discussion, and hopefully spark change. They're doing so with a film called "Being Charlie" directed by recognized American director Rob Reiner. The film tracks its main character through his ups and downs with drug addiction in the states. Film Festival Organizers have keyed in on that theme to jump start the Belize conversation on drug courts – a proposal which has been languishing on lawmakers desks for years.
