And so those are the murders - but the weekend's death toll in the Belize District could have been even greater because four other persons were shot - two of them female minors - and one of the girls was shot in the cheek, while one man was shot in the head, but they all survived.
Three of the shootings happened on Sunday night in the city. The most serious is a 13 year old who was grazed by a bullet across the cheek on Raccoon Street Extension. A written police report says it happened while she sat inside her house watching television at 10:30 last night. But, today at a press conference, the lead investigator says it happened closer to ten, and she wasn't inside; she was outside on the stairs. They both agree she was grazed to the cheek:

"Whilst the minor was outside by the stairs of the house, shots were fired whereby she received the injury to the left side of her cheek. Several persons were interviewed. This investigation is still at a young stage, persons are being sought for this investigation and persons are being detained for questioning."
The minor is in stable condition and the injury is not life threatening.
