Help Him Find His Grandma
posted (December 12, 2016)
Last week we told you about 70 year old Gabriella Mendez, the Maskall village resident who went missing. Well, she still has not been found. Her family and police have searched the surrounding area, but haven't come up with any leads. Now, her family is asking the public to help in locating her. Grandson Luis Payes gave us more details...

"Can you please tell us where's the last time you saw your grandmother was and how long has she been missing?"

Luis Armando Payes, Grandson of Missing Woman
"I saw her since Friday but on Monday my uncle was with her and he went back to the island but we gave her a phone whereby we can contact her everyday as she lives alone. We tried to call her and there was no answer so my uncle said 'Luis go and check up on your grandmother'. When we went there, we saw no sign of her and that became a concern for us so I said 'well I'm going to start looking around the village to see whether she's around a friend or relative'. We made checks and from since then up to now which makes it 8 days we have nothing, no kind of news at all, no signs. We received two instances where two different persons said they saw her in the Maruba Resort area because she's from Maskall Village. We've arranged search parties, the same village members have checked in the forest and all over the place, there's still no sign at this time."

"Is there any reason why she would have gone missing? Maybe she went to do something or does she have any kind of pastimes that should would have tried to go do?"

Luis Armando Payes, Grandson of Missing Woman
"She has her time when she goes around looking for friends and that's the same reason why we checked all those places already. She also does her little vending around the village where she sells vegetables and stuff. She normally doesn't come home that late and we were there up to last night and still nothing. No one has seen anything and it's a major concern for us because the village is small and someone would have seen. That's the reason why we're coming out to the public, we've provided pictures, we have pamphlets all over in public places to see whether someone sees her to give me a call. I posted it on social media and we also have a financial award for anyone who has seen her around, just contact me or the nearest police station. She doesn't understand English Only Spanish so you guys can get in contact with me or the nearest police station."

If you have any information about Mendez' whereabouts, you can contact her grandson at 635-7288, or the nearest police station.
