Carl Ramos Ready
posted (December 12, 2016)
All across the country, the Belize Infrastructure Limited has been constructing major sporting facilities in the different municipalities. And this weekend, Dangriga's Carl Ramos Stadium officially opened with their first football match in the new facility.

It is a multi-million dollar stadium which the footballers of that Southern Town had been waiting for, but probably didn't think would arrive any time soon. And, the UDP ministers were certainly enjoying a bit of chest beating; that's after Patrick Faber, John Saldivar and Frank "Pawpa" Mena each made an attempt at a penalty kick.

Here's how that opening in Dangriga looked this weekend:

Francis Humphreys, Mayor - Dangriga Town
"Carl Ramos Stadium, the only one of its kind in the country of Belize and I say that with all due respect to Minister Saldivar, Isidoro Beaton is a jem, but no other stadium has this kind of location, ambience and the history on which it has been built. So we have a spectacular view, we have a history that is second to none and now we have a facility of which every person in Dangriga and in the country of Belize can be proud. This is value for money."

Hon. Frank "Pawpa" Mena, Area Rep., Dangriga
"This stadium, the negotiation, the discussion, the money that was gotten and the prime minister and the cabinet blessed the money for this stadium because we understand as a government that it is love that will push this nation forward. So when you come with your bad vibes it won't work, like in Garifuna says "he seh mi se buh", its here."

Hon. Patrick Faber, Minister of Education. Youth, Sports & Culture
"This morning, there was the inauguration of the field in Toledo. There is one being constructed in Benque Viejo. There is the Victor Galvez stadium. There is Falcon Field in Cayo. So, I was happy and no one could have been happier than I when Cordell Hyde decided to ask about MCC trying to shame the government. What's happening in one stadium and we're doing things there, cannot cause us to overlook all that is going on across this country. I was able to boast as well about Marion Jones who will receive very shortly FIFA standard lighting and they will redo the grass there so that Belize City can boast at home for international level football as well. So my friends, things are happening all over this country."
