On Friday's news, we showed you the big reveal by PUP Parliamentarian Cordel Hyde. He outlined a scheme where 50 adjoining plots of land in Carmelita Village, totalling some 1,600 acres, were acquired by persons related to former Minister Gaspar Vega.
We'll, we've managed to get copies of those documents he was reading from, and our brief review of them reveals a consistent pattern. Take for Example Angelita Cruz. On September 2, 2013, the Ministry of Natural Resources approved the transfer of a parcel of land to her for just under $2,500. Then on August 27, 2013, she then turned around and sold it to the company belonging to Gaspar Vega's brother, German Vega. His company, German Vega and Sons Imports Limited, paid her $12,000 for the purchase, and she made just over 10 thousand dollars profit.
Here in this document, we see that on September 2, 2013, once again, the Ministry of Natural Resources then approved Faviola Cruz for purchase an adjoining parcel of land for a little more than 2,300 dollars. Again on August 27, 2013, she then turned around and sold it for $12,000 to German Vega and Sons Imports, making over $10,000 profit.
On September 2, 2013, Narmo Cruz, was approved a transfer to buy a nearby piece of land in Carmelita village for just over $2,400. Once again, he turned around and sold it to German Vega and Imports for $15,000, making over $12,000 in profit.
Here in this document, it shows that on September 16, 2015 Jane Benita Sealy was approved by the Natural Resources ministry to transfer a separate piece of land in Carmelita to his ownership for over $2,400. She then sold it on October 9, 2015 to Marilene Vega for $10,000, making a profit of over $7,000.
Here in this document, it shows that on July 22, 2014, Carl Sealey was approved a transfer of another piece of land in Carmelita Village for the price of $9,000. He then turned around and sold it to Marilene Vega for $15,000, making a profit of $6,000.
We have seen 50 documents like this, and they reveal a similar pattern.
This is how PU Shadow Minister for Natural resources, Cordel Hyde explained it in the house on Friday:

"The people of Belize needs to know what's happening or what has happened. Why it is that they can't get a little lot. I am just stating for the record. That's all I am doing and if the minister did nothing wrong, then so be it. But all I am saying is this; how is it that you end up with 50 lots adjacent to each other and all the persons who got those lots then turned around and flipped them? Is it that they don't like land? Is it that all 50 persons suddenly got sick? Or some misfortune befell their family or someone in the family got sick and they had all sell the land? That is some strange crazy coincidence that all 50 persons from the north got the lands, paid $2,400 to the government, then turn around within weeks, within months and then flipped that land to 3 Vega's. That's all I am saying."
