2 Northside police officers were awarded today for their exemplary police work. Every month an officer is chosen and recognized based on professional conduct and performance. Now, it's not to say that none of the other officers work hard but the awardees for October and November say it's all about going above and beyond - that is what makes the difference. We were at the Eastern Division North office this morning when PC Jerome Middleton and PC Nelson Ramos got their well-deserved awards. Here is what they had to say.
But city cops were not the only ones who were recognized. Several Dangriga officers were awarded including Corporal Carlos Galvez and PC David Mejia. These two officers saved a mother and her 8 month old baby from drowning near the Tobacco CAye Range. A strong wave had caused the boat they were traveling in to capsize but the officers sprang into action to save the lives they could. The incident happened on November 17th. And one civilian drowned.
