And while BTL is keeping data charges the same, BEL says it wants to do the same for electricity rates. The company has proposed to the PUC, proposing that the Mean Electricity Rate should be kept at 36.9 cents per kilowatt hour for the first half of 2017.
That's the average rate, but BEL is proposing some relief for Industrial consumers - who would benefit from a new rate structure that should see lower electricity costs over time.
Of course, that's just the proposal, the PUC, as regulator, still has to approve it. BEL made its submission on December 10th, and the regulator will reply next week.
