Rural Police Confirm Identity Of Jane Doe Nine Days Later
posted (December 23, 2016)
Belize Rural Police have just gotten a positive ID for the Jane Doe whose body was found floating in the Belize River nine days ago. The break in the case came through a lead that LOVE FM got from a radio listener in PG - who provided a basic outline of who the woman may have been, and who she was with.

Half an hour ago police confirmed Jane Doe is Michelle Moreira from Punta Gorda.

Today, before her identity was confirmed, Officer Commanding for the rural area ACP Edward Broaster told us that they are looking for her common law:...

ACP. Edward Broaster - OC., Rural Eastern Division
"Since the information that came from Love FM we have managed to get other information as to exactly where they were staying just prior to the demise of Jane Doe and that is between the Boom Bridge on the highway and we identified an abandon house that Jane Doe and an individual was living in."

Reporter
"That individual now we understand she was always seen with him, will the police be questioning him?"

ACP. Edward Broaster - OC., Rural Eastern Division
"We are looking for him."

Reporter
"Is he someone known to the police?"

ACP. Edward Broaster - OC., Rural Eastern Division
"Not to us."

Reporter
"Now are you able to give us a name for this woman, we have heard reports?"

ACP. Edward Broaster - OC., Rural Eastern Division
"Not yet."

Courtney Weatherburne, 7News
"Disclosed the relationship between this individual and Ms. Jane?"

ACP. Edward Broaster - OC., Rural Eastern Division
"Apparently it would appear as if though they were in a common law sort of relationship."

Reporter
"She has 3 kids. Do you know if those kids are up here or there with family?"

ACP. Edward Broaster - OC., Rural Eastern Division
"I don't know anything about her kids at this time."

We'll keep following the case.
