Repeat Victim of Violent Assault Needs Help
posted (December 30, 2016)
Byron Jefford's name has been in the news several times in the last few years. Not because he is a criminal or a celebrity, but because he has been consistently targeted and attacked by persons in his nag infested community. In our newscast on Wednesday we told you that he was shot in his hand. Well right now, he's in the hospital, waiting for a surgery that he absolutely needs if he's going to have continued use of his hand.

But he's waiting because the family needs money. They have to pay $500 up front before he can be operated on, and they are having trouble coming up with the funds. So today his mother and aunt told us about the situation and made a plea for help.

Denise Flowers - Aunt
"What happened, he got shot Friday and he needs a surgery. My sister doesn't have the money. the cost of it is $500 but the doctor said if we don't give the $500 dollars they won't operate on the child, so all we are asking for is a little donation, any little thing counts to make us try to make up the 500 dollars by now and next week when he is to take the surgery Tuesday or Wednesday. Sir I'm pleading please, if he doesn't get the surgery he could lose his hand and he will be crippled because it's a partial they want to put in his hand."

Lorna Flowers - Mother
"I don't believe that he was a specific target but they always promised that they will come in on Wagner's Lane and they will do what they have to do. they finally did it the 26th and he was coming out of the alley not being suspicious but wandering why, because they looked like someone he knows, but wondering why they haven't stopped where he thought they would have stopped and when he looked by the time he looked again, they guy already had out the gun and start shooting, so he ran to his alley the best way he could. He was on his own street where he lives. They used to be friends and I would tell him, they are not his friends. You live on Wagner's Lane, stay on Wagner's Lane. But he said mommy some of them are my people, why can't I be around them and I would tell him Byron you will find out. The first thing they did was kidnaped my son, the second thing they did, was leaving a message saying that he will not live to see seventeen. I want them to know today is his birthday, he is 23 years of age."

Denise Flowers - Aunt
"That is my nephew right and I have feelings for him because I have kids but this is too much, this is about 4 times, they almost killed him. I meant to say, it has to be done because retaliation might have to happen. We don't want that, we don't want any retaliation, but I mean to say every time he is getting hurt. This is the 4th time, they kidnapped him, cut his throat nothing came out of it, to last time they stabbed him up, and nothing came out of it, now they shot him again, what do they want? I mean to say we are all human beings because the same thing that they could do, anyone can do."

"Just to clarify, he is a schizophrenia patient and it happened after trauma."

Lorna Flowers - Mother
"All the series of stuff, I can't believe that people that he thought was his friend would do things like that him. All I'm asking the public is to please assist me, so that he can have the use of his hand back. they have already given me a bill of a thousand and 65 dollars but it goes on because he is still in the hospital and everyday its 35 dollars for the day and the most important thing is the 500 dollars so that the hand can get surgery and then I could do my best to see what I can do to deal with the rest of stuff that comes along."

Jeffords suffers from trauma induced schizophrenia, from the number of times he was attacked by people he thought were his friends. Anyone interested in assisting the family can contact his mother Lorna Flowers at 6222858, or make a donation at Atlantic Bank account number 211064603.
