Suspected Stalker Gets Bail
posted (January 5, 2017)
Today 21-year-old Shawn Phillips appeared in the Magistrate's Court. He was arraigned on three criminal offenses: burglary, throwing missiles and common assault upon his alleged 19 year old victim.

According to the victim's report, Phillips had been lurking in an abandoned house across the street from her home on New Year's Eve. He later emerged from the house and threw glass pints at her house. Phillips then took advantage of an open door and entered without her permission, armed with a glass bottle. The victim said Phillips began to threaten her, and only left after she told him she would call the police.

The victim described Phillips as "just a friend", which gave Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser concerns about whether or not he was obsessed with her. After being reassured by Phillips that he would leave the victim alone, the Magistrate reluctantly offered him bail of $2000.
