Godfrey Gone!
posted (January 6, 2017)
He's one of the leading Senior Counsels in Belize, but Godfrey Smith is leaving his private law practice to become a judge in St. Lucia. 7News has confirmed that Smith has taken up an appointment with the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. Smith leaves next week, when he will commence sitting as a judge at the High Court in St. Lucia.

At the age of 48, Smith is expected to be one of the younger judges on that highly regarded court which has responsibility for the Eastern Caribbean States of Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He is not the first Belizean to take up the bench in that court; Denys Barrow was the first.
