Man on Motorbike Killed in Explosive Hit And Run
posted (January 9, 2017)
And from murder in Punta Gorda, we turn now to the fatal traffic accident in Ladyville in which a man's motorcycle exploded and burnt him to death.

He's 21 year-old Jamalsky Young, a Ladyville Resident who was on his way to work last night, sometime after 9 o'clock. He was on his motorbike when a hit and run driver crashed into him. The young man's motorbike erupted into flames while he lay unconscious and the driver sped off. Today, our news team went looking for answers in Ladyville, and Daniel Ortiz has that story:

Daniel Ortiz reporting
21 year-old Jamalski Young passed away here in Ladyville, right in front of Blues Bar. His body caught on fire after the motorcycle he was on exploded. Police believe that Young was driving to work at the Sky Gas Station, which is less than a quarter mile away.

Unfortunately, he never made it because some unknown driver reversed his white vehicle into Young's lane, cutting him off. The motorcycle, now a burnt heap of scrap metal, struck the vehicle launching him forward. The motorbike landed right next to him, and burst into flames, which engulfed him, and eventually killed him.

His family was in the depths of grief when we caught up to them today. His mother struggled to gather words to describe getting the news no parent ever wants to receive:

Evadney Williams - Mother of Deceased
"He left and his boss was calling us, asking about '"Malski". We told him that 'Malski' already left. His boss called back and said that 'Malski' hasn't arrived as yet. Kenon, my son, went to go see, and it was when he arrived at work, one of the security guards from his work went to go check. He said, 'Kenon' it looks like that its its your brother who was in an accident by Low's."

Evadney Williams
"The vehicle was reversing from the bar, and he was going to work, and he ran into 'Malski.' The cycle just blow up with him."

She's even more aggrieved by the fact that the driver, whose vehicle her son ran into, fled the scene and didn't render aid.

Evadney Williams
"I want to tell him, let him watch me in my face. Just like how my kids are not sleeping, I hope he isn't sleeping either, and he thinks about it, what he did to my son."

"I just want to tell the man to let him apologize to me, or something."

All the family has now are their cherished memories of him, including this photograph, which showed that he was a model employee at the Gas Station.

Evadney Williams
"He got his work, and he work. He work, yes. Most of all, he loved his music. He built his own speaker, because he did everything, and he used to ride around with his music."

Today, we requested comment from Rural Police commanders, who as part of their new media gag order, directed us to the Police Press Officer.
