Pitts to Jail For Ammo

Tonight, 40 year-old Kirk Pitts, a barber from Antelope Street, is at the Belize Central Prison after being taken to court for bullets and marijuana, which police say they busted him with.

According to police, they were on mobile patrol yesterday on Faber's Road Extension when they searched him. They officers found a black plastic bag which contained 4 live rounds of 9 millimeter ammunition, and less than a gram of marijuana. The police then charged him with keeping unlicensed ammunition and possession of a controlled drug. He was arraigned today before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser, where he pled not guilty to the charges. He told the court that the police planted the bullets on him. Despite that, the Senior Magistrate couldn't grant him any bail, and he was remanded into custody until March 24.

The police are also reporting, that at around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, they were on mobile patrol on Raccoon when they made another bust. The police say that when they arrived at the Curassow Street intersection, they saw two young men riding on separate bikes. The officers say that when one of the boys spotted them coming, he quickly turned a lane, and they allegedly saw him when he threw a bag away. The cops caught him, retrieved the bag, and when they looked inside it, they found 437.1 grams - almost a pound of marijuana in it.

The young man, identified as a 16 year-old minor, was arrested and charged with drug trafficking.
