Ritchel Dominguez had taken quite a high profile as the Director of Sports at the National Sports Council.  He took up the post after his political boss from Orange Walk East, Elodio Aragon was assigned the portfolio for Sports after the November 2015 General election.  But, 7News has confirmed that Dominguez is Director no more.  Sports Minister Patrick Faber told us via text message, quote, “His contract expired and we've chosen not to renew, but he is being considered for an alternative posting within the National Sports Council.â€￾ End quote.

His one year contract expired on January third – and Dominguez left on January 17th. Charlie Slusher is now the Acting Director working along with Raul Rosado Jr – who is the Chairman of the National Sports Committee. 

Seems Dominguez’s fortunes went down because Elodio Aragon is no longer at the Ministry of Sports.  He was re-assigned to the Ministry of Home Affairs in September.  And, it seems that when Aragon left, Dominguez, who is from Aragon’s constituency, lost his political protection, and ultimately, his job.
