Yesterday key environmental and conservation stakeholders met to begin work on updating and revising the National Threatened Species List 2005. The list identifies at risk terrestrial species, as well as threats that could impact them in the future. The effort is also a part of the Forestry Department's endeavours to contribute towards global Sustainable Development Goals by maintaining the country's biodiversity and improving wildlife conservation efforts. 

After consultations have concluded a new National Threatened Species List 2017 will be developed.
