The UDP Government Declares War On Senator Eamon
posted (February 8, 2017)

PUP senior senator Eamon Courtenay is under fire from the UDP  tonight. It's because he's filed a constitutional motion challenging the two pieces of legislation which seek to firewall the reserves and government's assets from being crow footed by the Ahscroft Alliance. The bills had bi partisan support in the house and Senate where even Courtenay voted for their passage.  But now that Courtenay the Attorney is challenging the laws in court, the UDP is calling for his removal.

In a press release this evening the ruling party says quote, his action is an outright betrayal of Belize’s national interests and comes in extreme conflict with the Senatorial seat he holds, end quote.

The UDP warns quite, "If the Ashcroft group were to succeed in getting a US Court order against our reserves, all the assets of the Central Bank would be frozen until the matter is finalized and the amount quantified. During that period, the Central Bank and the country would not be able to pay for supplies or conduct foreign transactions. It would cripple trade and business and bring us to a standstill." End quote.

Courtenay was at the Senate Hearings on Immigration today as part of the Senate Select Committee, but he left the country this afternoon. This evening, via whatsapp, he told us, quote, Â "The UDP is once again trying to distract attention from their incompetence. I said in the Senate that the constitutionality of the laws is questionable. The court will answer that question shortly and show that once again the Barrow Administration has rushed legislation through the House that is invalid. Rank incompetence.

Those who signed the Miami blank check, those who sold visas, nationalities and passports during the past 8 years, those who stole government land for their families and friends, those who lost the Sarstoon to the Guatemalans are the real traitors and pirates. The people are waiting for this band of UDP rogues" End quote.
