The Barrow Administration promised to re-open the Commerce Bight Port in its last manifesto and that put a freeze on relations with the Big Creek Port. Transport Minister Edmund Castro may have been trying thaw things out in a visit to the Port.

General Manager Gustavo Carrillo and Operations Manager Mr Aldus Forman led Castro on a tour of the facility.

The ministerial delegation then visited the offices of the Big Creek Group of Companies, where they held discussions with General Manager, Zaid Flores. 

According to an official release, construction of another deep water port, to be built at Commerce Bight is in the early stages of planning.   This is perceived as creating a government backed competitor to take market share from the privately owned Big Creek Port.
